There’s a passage in the Bible about becoming as little children that I often ponder. It’s worth considering whether or not you’re a Christian. I don’t think for a moment that it’s a call to become like fifth graders or even two-year-olds in terms of self-seeking behavior.
What I do believe it means is flying free of all of those filters and biases we pick up as time goes by. Those notions and deep-seated convictions that we and only we are right about everything and that we have nothing to learn. Those filters that cause us to take in only information that comports with what we already believe or think we know, and ignore all the rest.
It’s a call to be unleashed from our weighty opinions and finally experience the freedom that comes from humbly acknowledging that we know very little and still have much to learn.
