I once received a note from a student–an older, non-traditional student like I once was (and still am). He couldn’t face doing an assignment because it required him to try to interact with other younger students who generally ignored him or just gave him curious stares. I allowed him to complete the assignment alone because I well understand that community can’t be forced.
