It’s what you invest in others that makes you love them, not what they invest in you. You can pour your life and fortune into someone and they won’t love you back, but you’ll surely love them. It’s both the sorriest tragedy and the greatest opportunity at the same time. If you want or need to love someone, invest in them with abandon. Pour your heart, soul, and energy into them, regardless of your feelings and without expectations. Your feelings will trail not too far behind.
